If you have ever wanted to get started working cattle, but were not sure how to get started, join us for “cowplay!” We are excited to offer smaller semi-private class sizes (4-5 riders), more personal instruction and the ONLY place to work fresh cattle every clinic!
Whether you wish to sharpen your horse’s cattle skills or learn how to use the correct maneuvers and basic skills needed to get “COWY”, we have a class for you! Our programs are designed to give riders the ability to school their horse through all stages of the training process. We work on the horsemanship needed to develop the cattle skills for you and your horse read and work cows effectively. You will:
learn all the maneuvers and why they are important
get an understanding of reading and rating cattle
develop the reining and body control needed for effective cattle work
build confidence and position in both horse and rider
Learn how to work in the herd and on the fence
Come have a lot of fun as your horse’s confidence builds and brings out the “cowy” side of herd work that is very natural to all breeds. All our clinics offer you the “how to..” and the “why” behind the training. Each rider can make a more educated decision when training their own mounts by understanding the foundation.
The Cowplay classes are all run for two hours with 5 riders max to keep the one on one feel and a chance to enjoy the camaraderie of your small group. Once we have covered the basics and riders are feeling confident we often play games with the new skills like sorting or cutting from the herd! We have a group for any level of horse and rider that wants to work their horse on cows.
For the advanced riders that wish to tune up their maneuvers and cattle skills we offer clinics based on cutting, or reined cowhorse work. These are faster paced but still focused on keeping your horse’s training and balance the goal. We book these clinics to accommodate the riders wanting to learn how to take their cow down the fence, improve their position and build the speed confidence and accuracy to work cattle competitively.
We book all your spots according to where your training levels are at, so all riders can advance their skills together! We proudly offer a great facility with fresh cattle to train your horse on!
We are also able to offer regular programming and lessons for people that are working on building their own training and horsemanship skills at home. We can help you build the horsemanship and foundation maneuvers that are the backbone of your training…for any direction…..cutting, reining, cowhorse, sorting or penning.
